It seems that there is daily news surrounding the idea of Universal Basic Income, that is, providing everyone with a monthly income, no strings attached. Giving people money has become a rallying point for some to address the enormously bad trend of massive income inequality trending in the world. The three elements that makes trending income inequality bad include....
1. It creates a breeding ground for political instability and destabilizes communities. (ie: the French Revolution).
2. It creates needless suffering in a society that could those resources to address social challenges (ie: food insecurity, opioid epidemic, climate change, etc)
3. Dramatic income inequality directly sabotages the Democratic movement in the world.
That being said, here are some stories that show communities are going their own way in seeking to stem the tide of income inequality. This doesn't mean Universal Basic Income is the cure all. But it does mean some brave leaders are taking this challenge on.
